Community Health Centers, Inc. Breaks Ground On New Groveland Health Center
Groveland, FL. Community Health Centers, Inc. held a Ground Breaking Ceremony on Thursday, May 13, 2010, for a new Groveland Health Center to be built and replace the existing Groveland Family Health Center located at 1296 West Broad Street, Groveland, FL. Community Health Centers has been providing medical and dental services to the Groveland community since 1978. The new 16,500 square feet health care center will replace the current 9,450-square foot facility which is no longer adequate for the patient load being experienced and has suffered roof damage from past hurricanes and tropical storms creating water intrusion problems. Patient access to services will not be compromised, as the existing Groveland Family Health Center will continue to stay operational during the construction phase. Upon completion of the new building scheduled for early 2011, the old building will be demolished.
Last year, the Groveland Family Health Center provided medical services to 2,774 patients, with 7,686 visits and dental services to 1,122 patients, with 3,258 visits. The new facility will provide expanded medical and dental services to the Groveland community and establish new pediatric dental services.
“We would not be breaking ground today without the assistance from the US Department of Agriculture, Rural Development. CHC is receiving funding support for this 2 Million Plus project through a Rural Development Community Facility loan and a BankFIRST loan. We would like to thank the USDA and BankFIRST for their partnership, commitment to and support of this project,” stated Beverly Paulk, CHC Board Chairperson.
The groundbreaking ceremony performed at the site of the new building brought together officials from Community Health Centers, Inc., the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, Groveland Family Health Center Staff, and local, state and federal elected officials.
