Community Health Centers, Inc. (CHC) celebrated the opening of our new Dental Care center with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, January 24, 2011. The new center is located at 210 E. 7th Street, Apopka, FL 32703. CHC has been providing dental services to the Apopka community at the Apopka Family Health Center since 1979. We received an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Capital Improvement Program Grant in the amount of $990,756 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration to build a new dental facility in Apopka. There is a real unmet need for Pediatric oral health services within the Apopka community. The new Dental Care center provides adult dental care and New Pediatric dental services. The project increased the dental operatories from 4 to 11 and increased the dental staff by hiring a Full-Time Pediatric Dentist, 1.5 Dental Assistants, and 1.5 Front Desk Associates. This new larger Dental center will allow CHC to serve additional 2,518 dental patients, providing 5,760 additional dental encounters serving both Adults and Children! The ribbon-cutting ceremony gave members of the Apopka community an opportunity to tour the center and meet the staff serving the site. Special guests and speakers included our Founding members Sister Ann Kendrick and Sister Gail Grimes; Mayor John Land, City of Apopka; State Representative Bryan Nelson; Orange County Commissioner Fred Brummer; Beverly Paulk, Board Chairperson, Community Health Centers, Inc.; and Gregg Stewart, DMD, Dental Director, Community Health Centers, Inc.
