(Winter Garden, FL) National Health Center Week (August 4th-10th) is an annual celebration to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades

Community Health Centers, Inc. is part of a larger network of locally-run health centers that serve more than 28 million people nationwide. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), their physicians, and staff, are on the front lines of providing important primary care health services to children and adults. This year’s celebration week will highlight how health centers are at the forefront of a nationwide shift in addressing environmental and social factors as an integral part of primary care, reaching beyond the walls of conventional medicine to address the factors that may cause sickness, such as lack of nutrition, mental illness, homelessness and substance use disorders. The success of community health centers in managing chronic disease in medically vulnerable communities has helped reduce health care costs nationwide for American taxpayers.

“I am very proud of the fact that we help to significantly improve the quality of life within our neighborhoods, said Margaret Brennan, President & CEO, Community Health Centers, Inc. “It is important that we celebrate our achievements, while also always remembering the challenges that we face in the years ahead. Our communities need us and we are proud to answer their call,” she said.

Community Health Centers, Inc. cares for more than 70,000 patients annually, while providing more than $87.9 million in community benefit and impact. For more information on Community Health Centers Inc., or to learn about available career opportunities, please visit www.chcfl.org
