Tavares, FL – Community Health Centers – Tavares is proud to announce a generous $1,000 donation from Friends of Reading, Inc., a Tavares-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy and a love for reading across Lake County. The funds will be used to purchase new, age-appropriate books for young patients as part of the Reach Out and Read program. This donation will allow Community Health Centers to purchase more than 1,000 new books for their pediatric patients.
Through this nationally recognized initiative, children receive a free book during their medical visit at Community Health Centers, providing families with tools to support reading development at home while fostering a lifelong love of books. This effort aligns seamlessly with Friends of Reading’s mission to create equal opportunities for literacy success by providing books to families with children from birth through age five.
“For more than 70 years, Friends of Reading has shared a passion for books and community,” said Alpa Pandya, President of Friends of Reading. “We’re thrilled to support Community Health Centers in making early literacy a meaningful part of every child’s healthcare experience.”
The donation will allow Community Health Centers to expand their Reach Out and Read program at the Tavares location, ensuring young patients receive engaging, culturally relevant books to take home.
