The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has approved the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages six months to five years old.
Vaccine trials have shown that vaccines are safe and effective and have minimal side effects. The most common side effects were irritability, drowsiness, pain at the injection site, low fever, and fatigue. There were no reported cases of myocarditis during the clinical trials for this age group.
Many of the kids in this age group are not able to wear masks, so this is an important vaccine to offer protection to the youngest in our population. Vaccines decrease the chances of serious illness, hospitalization, and death from the infection and reduce the risk of the long-term effects of COVID-19.
NOTE: No appointment is necessary. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available. Supplies are limited. Parent/Guardian must be present.
